Dr Evangelos Tsekos becomes new Deputy Medical Director
From 1 October 2024, Dr Evangelos Tsekos will take over the position of full-time Deputy Medical Director at Magdeburg University Hospital until further notice. The Supervisory Board of Magdeburg University Hospital unanimously appointed Dr Tsekos to this responsible position at its meeting in September 2024. As part of the restructuring and consolidation plan, he has been supporting the operating theatre management of Magdeburg University Hospital since 1 May 2023. The position of Deputy Medical Director will become vacant after Prof. Dr Dr Hachenberg retires on 30 September 2024. In this position, Dr Tsekos will, among other things, increasingly support the operational management of the entire hospital, accompany the new building projects for the Heart Centre and Central Hospital and continue to drive forward the restructuring and consolidation plan for Magdeburg University Hospital.

Dr Tsekos is moving from Consus Health to Magdeburg University Hospital and has worked in various hospital structures during his career. Most recently, he was Head of the Centre for Surgery/Anaesthesia and Medical Director of Diagnostics and the Medical Care Centre (MVZ) at Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann in Potsdam. After studying medicine at the University of Munich and completing his specialist training, he worked for many years as a senior physician. Among other things, he worked as an operating theatre manager at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf and then headed the staff unit for medical process organisation at the University Medical Centre Düsseldorf for over 10 years. Before moving to Potsdam, Dr Tsekos was Medical Director at Fürth Municipal Hospital. There he oversaw the development of a master plan, the planning and implementation of construction projects and the introduction of new operating theatres.
The Management Board of the hospital and the Supervisory Board would like to thank Prof. Hachenberg for his valuable work as Deputy Medical Director and Director of the University Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy. They wish him all the best for the future.
